MINUTES -- BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

Date: February 22, 1998

Items:

  1. Society audit.
    The Board accepts and approves the first audit covering the years 1989-1996.
  2. Future Society audits.
    The Board feels that there is no need to discuss a future audit until someone requests it.
  3. Society projects.
    The Board directs Ron to continue the Archives Project, the directory project, the Problem Solver, the newsletter, and the Bulgarian Seminar, making expenditures where necessary.
  4. Future projects.
    The Board directs Ron to pursue future projects where feasible, particularly regular dancing in Austin, additional foreign seminars, and the development and publication of an electronic Folk Dance Encyclopedia.
  5. Compensation for Ron and Tatiana.
    The board directs Ron to continue paying himself and Tatiana a token salary until Society finances support a real salary. Further, the Board directs Ron to pay the tuition and book expenses of himself and Tatiana while they are pursuing education that will further the Society's mission. This education includes library and information science, history, music and ethnomusicology, languages and linguistics, and anthropology, as they pertain to the study of international folk dance.
  6. Board membership.
    Board membership will remain unchanged until future notice. Birgit and Ingrid will explore the willingness of others to join the Board and the desirability of enlarging the Board.
  7. Next meeting.
    The Board agrees to meet again in February of 1999 unless there is a reason to meet sooner.
